Living Without a Laptop Battery
I had a laptop with a dud battery, so I took it out and kept using the laptop on AC power, since it almost never left my place. This is why I gave up on purchasing a new battery. It's mainly being used as a desktop replacement now.
Did this alter the computer's performance or damage it in any manner? Nope, not at all. Did it function just like before? Absolutely, it did.
Operating a Laptop Without the Battery is Possible
There's no reason a laptop won't operate perfectly fine without a battery, provided a few points are considered.
First, ensure you're using the original power adapter that accompanied your laptop. Power fluctuations could lead to motherboard failures, something the battery prevents by acting like a UPS.
And discussing electricity, maybe using a laptop without a battery isn't the best if you reside in an area prone to power surges. With unreliable electrical currents, best avoid this or incorporate a UPS too. A UPS ensures no harm comes to your laptop during a heavy load and prevents data loss in power failures, doubling as a surge protector.
Another crucial tip: never detach the power cord when the laptop's running, as it might harm its components.
Also, refrain from touching battery contacts while plugged in. Though mostly concealed on laptops, you might get a slight shock from the low voltage — generally around 24V max.
Remember to only detach the battery when the laptop is off and unplugged.
