I decked myself out as my Assassin and on my raid when I take down high-ranking Officers or generals, I noticed they don’t give me Abyss Points at all. This message popped up -

"You cannot gain any Abyss Points for a while as you have gained too many Abyss Points in too short a period of time"

Question:

1) Gameforge, why is there a cap on point farming for a class designed to carry out such missions, which is practically its core gameplay?

2) Somebody tell me how long exactly I need to wait after receiving this message?

Because taking out Soldiers instead of Officers doesn’t fix the problem, it’s just to circumnavigate this block. The Assassin’s main role is to spot and eliminate prime targets, earning substantial and swift Abyss Points.

3) Could this issue be tied to the event granting an extra 40% of Abyss Points and once it wraps up, will I cease receiving such messages?

Regarding the class, it matters, because the Assassin is made for this type of gameplay like ganking, the same gladiator or wizard will also not be able to receive as many Abyss points as the Assassins, since they do not have such tools.

I vaguely recall that you once could kill the identical player three times, followed by a message prompting a 20 or 25-minute cooldown before you could earn more AP from them. It was annoyingly long, so most didn't bother waiting unless they desperately needed a lot of AP from that specific player.

No particular class was crafted specifically for ganking, that's just a tactic some used. I'm not on Classic atm, but people in the past ganked with whatever class, since it was more about having the right gear. Those packing gear and patience would stay at a low level to gank, and the class wasn't a big deal. Sorcs with their OP damage were beasts back then for quite a while.

None of the classes were explicitly designed for ambushing; it was merely an option available to players. I'm not currently engaging with classic, but back when I played, people who ganked used a mix of classes. Ganking was more about the gear. Those with the right equipment and willingness to keep their level low engaged in it, rendering class somewhat irrelevant. Sorcerers had overpowered damage for an extended period around that era.

1 - I’m referring to high-level ganks. You're talking about lower-level encounters.

2 - Tools? The "Hide II" ability.

How many classes can singlehandedly take down someone in a full party? I reckon only the ranger might have a chance, but it’s tougher for them. The rest can't infiltrate a group and eliminate an officer or general effectively; they’ll either flee or stand ready to strike.

3 - Based on what you shared, it seems you might not have played as a ganker.

And this issue becomes apparent when, in scenarios where I, within 5-10 minutes, defeat numerous officers who bring substantial abyss points rewards, I end up getting restricted.

Clearly, you must be one of those trolls who camps endlessly at the green keep in Tahabata Inggison. This restriction was put up specifically for players like you, and frankly, it's a relief that it exists. Every time I attempt my two Inggison daily quests, being an officer rank 5, I'm ambushed by the same assassin repetitively from the shadows, costing me around 20-30k AP regularly, simply due to the scarcity of ways to acquire platinum medals.

By the way, in case you were under any misconception, what you and the other assassin trolls are doing is far from PvP. Lurking in stealth to wait for the perfect victim and striking when they're engaged with mobs isn't remotely close to real PvP—it's outright cowardice and trolling at its peak. But then again, the assassin class has always been the choice for cowards, so that's hardly surprising.

I’m about solo kills, not mob mobs. Between zerging and a solo gank, I'll always opt for solo. Here's the true strategy:

1. Buff to max while in stealth

2. Wait until the high rank is isolated from other players and groups

3. Strike when they have mob aggro

4. Ambush them with everything you've got

5. Run and stealth again

6. Move to the next target

This is the routine day after day.

The sad part isn't your antisocial approach—it's how NCSoft designed the class, so that's fair enough. The pathetic part is you whining here about not scoring enough AP with your sneaky tactics. That's what's truly sad.
