Aion Riftshade

I'm trying to run the game at a 3440x1440 resolution using windowed full screen mode. Adjusting these settings in-game, however, results in a black screen. I attempted to modify the SystemOptionsGraphics.cfg to the desired resolution with FULLSCREEN="1" and WINDOWFULLSCREEN="1" but this approach hasn't been helpful.

I've removed the file multiple times and tried logging back in with no success. My only playable option remains at 2560x1440. I've even switched the launcher from 64-bit to 32-bit, trying different configurations, without any improvement.

I've reset my video card settings along with the configuration file again, but to no avail. I’m using an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT.

Has anyone found a workaround for this?

The problem is that this resolution is quite too much for this old game, this is firstly, and second issue is your video card. 
Literally everyone having this card experience issues with black screen. For some of them switching to 32bit client worked, for someone else - playing in another window mode. We can't actually suggest much in this case. The card is just too new for the game :c

The game can handle resolutions like a champ on an NVidia 1080ti card, but I ran into issues with my own card. Though it always opens in window mode, I can switch it to borderless easily. My gripe with the cryengine is that it imposes a fixed limit on max screen pixels. On resolutions above 1920x1200, some of the high-quality settings, such as shadows, are disabled in the menu. This bug was known and eventually patched out. However, fixing it requires messing with the cryengine.dll, which isn't allowed with Anti-cheat . Plus, you need to tweak the aion.bin parameters (https://github.com/zzsort/Aion-Version-Dll). Right now, I'm not keen to downgrade to 1080 just to enable everything, especially since I don't own a 1080/1200 monitor myself.

As for your issue, the cryengine's resolution and settings are mostly configured in the system.cfg file. This file is encrypted, but you can find editors online that let you alter it and save those changes (just Google it, dps meters often need the system.cfg to be adjusted). With some tweaks, you might get it to work, though playing in a fullscreen window isn't all that bad. My main beef is with the reduced quality settings. When you modify the system.cfg or SystemOptionGraphics.cfg, be sure to set the file to read-only to prevent the game from overwriting it. Make backups too, because the launcher might delete them or reset the read-only status, allowing you to restore them.
