When you notice decreased FPS during gameplay, it slows down how the client processes packets, same as it was on retail. Create a macro using /ping commands in the Macro section and execute it in an empty room with high fps, then again during a siege, city, or crowded area. You'll see a marked difference. Normally, with high fps, I get 31-50 ms on coaxial cable net from Hungary, using WTFast. If I'm not using WTFast, I run into issues, but that's more about my ISP being subpar.
If this is happening frequently, the routing chosen by your ISP during peak times (like evenings) might not be optimal. Consider using a gaming proxy, as there are many offering free trials. Personally, I haven't encountered this issue often / there would likely be numerous discussions if it were a server fault in my view. A few years back, my ISP messed up on retail and I had the same problem you did, but alternative routing was the fix.
You should share a traceroute output when experiencing severe latency. Based on the custom start command used by the client, the game's IP is 51.91.6.184.
Also, I've been beta testing Aion Riftshade, which launches in Q1 2026. Compared to others, even during heavy load times, the network stays smooth, no gaming proxy needed thanks to its premium EU Hosting and low latency. The active devs and GMs in Discord truly make a difference, unlike on those overcrowded servers that depend on crummy ISPs.
