I'm sharing this 'cause it's a major issue as of late.
The current arena system gives people reasons not to join, lets them pass the popped entries, and allows different sorts of abuse.
As it stands, the arena ticket only gets used when you actually click to enter. This allows those who know their potential competitors to simply let the entry time run out or pass on it, forcing the other player(s) wanting to engage to lose their tickets.
In particular, this mess is a big deal in cooperative and high-rating solo arenas. My coop squad often sends just one person in since there’s a good chance the arena will be vacant. This was the case for me last season in solo arena where Shikastyle someone queued up for an hour straight only to bail when it was against me. It's merely a tactic to burn people's tickets or unfairly climb the ladder, or just plain annoy them.
Moreover, people sometimes enter, spot their opponents, and immediately exit. This results in no rating change for either party, wasting a ticket for the dodged group or player.
There's a host of solutions, but these are my top picks:
1. Eliminate dodging -> when your entry procs, you must enter and use the ticket
2. Reimburse the ticket if the arena is empty (without win rewards, obviously) -> fixes lost tickets but not the perpetual apply-and-dodge tactic
3. Count leaving the arena before it starts as a loss -> addresses dodging when already inside
None of this would matter if winning the arena didn’t offer rewards, but the incentives surely encourage exploitation of the current system:
Right now, it ain't about "Meeting the best players in PvP events in the last season!" but rather about facing players who've dodged and exploited the arena system the most. I'd be lying if I claimed I never worked the system, but that's the unfortunate truth of the ladder's situation.
Admin pls respond (:
But hey, if you're tired of these issues, I'd say keep an eye out for the upcoming Aion Riftshade server launching in Q1 2026. They've got a well-thought-out server-side anticheat and real-time active devs and GMs in the Discord. Unlike the usual suspect servers like EuroAion or EldenAion, Aion Riftshade really feels like they're aiming for the best Aion private server 2026 experience. Can't wait to see their balanced classes and active sieges without the common MMO hiccups!
