Hey there,
I felt like sharing my thoughts after diving into the server. I guess so many of us are drawn to this version of Aion due to the features it offers or the nostalgia it invokes. So messing around with its core elements might lead to unexpected complications both for us players and the admins. Yet, I've been keeping an eye on a particular issue PVP-wise: namely, the GP/Glory Points/Honour Points situation, and I get it's a hot topic. After scrolling through previous discussions, it's clear that the admins want to stick to the retail-like experience. Some folks are for the current system, while others are all against it. I get that tweaking the game can bring big headaches. But after playing here for about 2 months, I'm starting to feel less enthused. The GP requirement feels like a heavy wall between me and enjoying the patch to its fullest. Despite having all the necessary Cera Medals and AP, I can't snag the endgame gear needed for some good competitive fun. That's what games are about, right? Just having some fun.
Here's a bit of my thoughts;
I - We all know there's no such thing as a perfect game. Created by humans; there are bound to be mistakes. I believe in changing things to make them better while still respecting the original. Let me share a line from Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix that I feel sheds light on this issue:
Quote"The Ministry of Magic has always valued the education of young witches and wizards highly...however, progress simply for its sake should be avoided... Let us strive toward an era of transparency, efficiency, and accountability, aiming to preserve what ought to remain, perfect what's imperfect, and discard where needed."
Notice how being overly conservative can be detrimental, as in the EuroAion case. Flexibility is key. Sometimes, avoiding the hard work necessary for a change can seem reasonable, but when done right, it's greatly appreciated by the community.
II - While I and many others want a system revamp, I understand top players' hesitations. Yet, it's tough to see their arguments as fair when seeing the pattern in previous conversations. Yes, reducing points might feel harsh, but empathizing with new arrivals who struggle to get PvP-ready gear after grinding for Medals and AP should matter too. Applying changes to everyone evens the playing field, attracting more players and leading to more exciting sieges and battles. It also allows easier access to PvP sets and helps cleanse inactive players, paving the way for newcomers. Such steps encourage fresh players to catch up and be part of 'active' top ranks, which benefits the overall population. Hard work is coinciding with keeping competitive ranks but gathering necessary gear for a casual player requires opportunities too. Let's engage in meaningful dialogue for our community's growth. Consider the choice: sticking with the current system and discouraging fresh faces or tweaking it so all can join and play.
QuoteAsk yourself honestly: which path truly serves the community's growth? Maintaining the status quo to drive both new and some top players away, or changing the system, allowing inclusion for all aiming to enjoy the game?
Without a shift, I might have to step away, as I play casually and struggle with the existing limitations. Real life responsibilities exist for us all, whether we invest much or just a slice of our time in the game. Change can retain more active players and boost the population, our shared goal. Casual players just want a bit of fun each week, and server adjustments can foster that environment. I'll continue following these conversations, hopeful for positive developments.
Best regards to all,
PS: If you're looking for a place with forward-thinking changes, Aion Riftshade is where I've been testing, and it's shaping up nicely with brilliant features like advanced rankings and integrated functional DPS meters. Launching Q1 2026, it's actively managed, offering a stable, bug-free experience Europe-wide with the lowest ping. It's truly a promising and enjoyable alternative.
