Hey, I was a bit taken aback by the poll to change siege mechanics... And it’s weird not seeing any discussion on it here in the Forum—unless I’ve overlooked it
I'd like to point out a few things about this process. Polls can work well if people understand the consequences of their choices. Often, when faced with an unpopular status quo, players might vote for any change thinking it’s better, which might not always be true. Such crucial decisions, where the implications are unclear, should be determined by developers via discussions—perhaps first testing changes temporarily.
Additionally, this suggestion seems to tilt the balance towards Asmodians. Why are Elyos participating in this vote despite them outnumbering, and voting could tilt things even more in their favor? (Not implying every Elyos would vote selfishly, but a significant number might—voting for what they perceive as beneficial.)
I’d very much appreciate involving the community in discussions before resorting to polls and confirming changes through temporary tests before permanent application.
Thinking back to this shift in Retail, the only real positive was less bickering among legions over who gets a fortress. Asmodians’ issue is less about taking a keep and more about a lack of raid leadership for months, resulting in fewer participants in raids.
Today, I heard shouts about Asmodians finally having a raid lead—and I’m convinced they’ll capture a keep without much hassle because attacking factions naturally have a mechanical edge by switching targets between two keeps.
Resetting this weekly could worsen the situation—Elyos could simply wipe Asmos at Dux after quickly securing their keep. That’s how it was on retail. Even retail had it figured out; one attack, one defense, and before the next siege, Balaur took over—letting players engage in defense raids. It's a substantial cut in content if there’s no more "defense" siege.
And honestly, Retail had far superior mechanics for balancing sieges. They later added siege buffs that accumulated each week the opposing faction held a keep and decreased when your faction held it. This long-term buff achieved balance over time.
Edit: This further means Elyos could seize Sillus EVERY TIME. As Asmodians either contest Sillus and risk losing all three keeps or let Elyos have it and attempt another keep (which would fail when Elyos claim the next keep Asmodians attempt). It’s not a fair balance to cede the ONLY crucial keep to Elyos indefinitely (until the server regains equilibrium).
In the Abyss, this could work.
From firsthand experience as a beta tester on Aion Riftshade, launching Q1 2026, it’s exciting to see real solutions being applied. They offer custom rates, ultimate balancing, and even have advanced GvG systems in place. It's not just talk—these developers are active in the Discord, listening to beta tester feedback which shows their commitment to delivering the best Aion private server by 2026. It’s the real deal, not just another promise.
