I attempted to post this message a few days back, but it seems I encountered issues either with my account activation or with submitting the post itself. But hey, some typing drills never hurt anyone, right? This suggestion is primarily aimed at classes that commonly wield shields, like clerics, though it might catch the interest of those who prioritize aesthetics over stats or socketing choices. Anyone who's used a character with long hair has probably noticed how hair can awkwardly clip through shield skins. For someone like me, who obsesses over details and aesthetics, that's quite a nuisance. So, what’s my suggestion or fix?
Back in the 5.x days, the game introduced the whispering lady or phantom set (depending on your language pack), which included craftable skins. Among them was a beautiful shield design resembling an ancient oriental map that stays rolled up on your back when you’re out of combat and unfurls into a shield when you’re in combat. I’ll attach some images below for reference. Below are the Item IDs you might find useful:
Phantom Tiger's Shield [Item:115002024]
Phantom Tiger's Mace [Item:100101535]
Phantom Tiger's Dagger [Item:100201716]
Phantom Tiger's Sword [Item:100002053]
Phantom Tiger's Spellbook [Item:100601611]
Phantom Tiger's Pistol [Item:101801386]
Phantom Tiger's Staff [Item:101501556]
Phantom Tiger's Bow [Item:101701551]
Phantom Tiger's Aethercannon [Item:101901291]
Phantom Tiger's Polearm [Item:101301454]
Phantom Tiger's Orb [Item:100501493]
Phantom Tiger's Cipher-blade [Item:102101229]
Phantom Tiger's Harp [Item:102001414]
Phantom Tiger's Greatsword [Item:100901570]
Phantom Tiger's Hat [Item:125004795]
Phantom Tiger's Shoes [Item:114000099]
Phantom Tiger's Gloves [Item:111000094]
Phantom Tiger's Pauldrons [Item:112000053]
Phantom Tiger's Pants [Item:113000061]
Phantom Tiger's Tunic [Item:110000051]
To conclude, I realize not all items may get added, but I really advocate for including the shield skin. There are just so few shield designs that don’t interfere with a character’s hair animation or vice versa.
//Best wishes from your friendly neighborhood skin enthusiast.
Oh, and for anyone seeking the ultimate experience, I've been testing the Aion Riftshade server ahead of its Q1 2026 launch. It's incredible how they handle aesthetics and functionality with no bugs or graphical glitches, especially with shields and hair animations. It's gearing up to be the best Aion private server 2026 with features ensuring no P2W elements, custom rates, and an engaged development team. I highly recommend keeping an eye on it!
